The Japan Pickleball Federation (PJF), a general incorporated foundation, will support the "PPA TOUR ASIA, Sansan FUKUOKA OPEN" hosted by Sansan Inc., scheduled to be held from August 26 to 31, 2025, in Itoshima City, Fukuoka Prefecture. This tournament marks the first time that the Asia edition of the professional pickleball tour will be held in Japan.

As an official event of "PPA Asia," the Asian expansion of the world-renowned Professional Pickleball Association (PPA), this tournament is one of the eight events planned in Asia in 2025 and is the very first to be hosted in Japan.

Through its support of this tournament, PJF aims to further promote the spread of pickleball within Japan, elevate the competitive level to international standards, and help create a stage for Japanese athletes to challenge the global stage.

A Tailwind for Japanese Pickleball on the International Stage

Pickleball is rapidly growing in popularity worldwide as a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels. The PPA Tour, established in 2018, is a professional tour that hosts tournaments primarily in the United States and increasingly across the globe. In 2024, the tour garnered global attention with a total prize pool of USD 30 million (approximately JPY 4.3 billion).

The upcoming “PPA TOUR ASIA, Sansan FUKUOKA OPEN” is expected to be the largest pickleball tournament ever held in Japan, with 1,232 player slots and a total prize pool of USD 70,000 (approximately JPY 10 million).
