PJF and UTR partner to hold "UTR Pickleball Japan Tour Powered by PJF Vol.1"
The Japan Pickleball Federation (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Yuko Hayashi; hereinafter referred to as PJF) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with BearDown (Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Naoki Takeda), the Japanese representative of the prestigious American tennis rating system UTR (Universal Tennis Rating), to host Japan's first UTR Pickleball Tour.
As UTR makes a full-scale entry into the pickleball market in the United States and expands its scale, the UTR-rated pickleball tour will be launched in Japan from 2025.

What is UTR rating?
UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) is a unique rating system established in the tennis world that quantifies a player's ability with a score from 0 to 16. A pickleball tour using this system is finally starting in Japan.
By obtaining the UTR rating, players can compare their skills with players from around the world while remaining in Japan. The UTR is an authoritative system that is one of the important criteria for tennis recommendations and study abroad at American universities, and in the future Japanese players will be able to use this rating to study abroad in pickleball. BearDown has sent many Japanese tennis players to the United States, and will continue to support Japanese players studying abroad in pickleball.
It will also be an important selection criterion for general players, in terms of determining whether they will be able to participate in future overseas tournaments or obtain a USAP Golden Ticket.
Three national tournaments are planned for 2025!
The 2025 tour is scheduled to be held three times in Japan, and the tournament will be organized by BearDown, the UTR Japan representative, and supported by PJF. In the future, we are considering expanding the tour to the whole of Japan.
