A New Chapter in Pickleball History Begins in Summer 2025 — Japan’s First Professional League Debuts in Ariake, Tokyo!

Originating in the United States, pickleball is a new and exciting racket sport experiencing explosive growth worldwide.

In Japan, the number of players has increased fivefold in the past year, reaching 45,000. This summer, Japan’s very first professional team league with prize money and a draft system — the PJF Pickleball Japan League BURGER KING® CUP — will make a spectacular debut in Ariake, Tokyo. In the professional division, top players selected from across Japan will be divided into 16 teams and face off after a strategic "draft meeting." Many international athletes will also participate. With categories ranging from corporate teams to university students and amateurs, this event marks the beginning of a new era for pickleball as a spectator sport.
