【the purpose】

  • Popularizing pickleball among office workers

    • This will ultimately attract investment in outdoor courts, facilities, equipment, etc. , revitalizing the industry as a whole.

  • To provide an opportunity or reason for company employees to become enthusiastic about pickleball

  • To encourage companies to sponsor various pickleball events

  • To be able to become friends with other pickleballers working in companies and exchange information with them


[Eligibility to participate]

  • Both members of the pair must be full-time employees of the same Japanese corporation

    • Please bring one business card with you on the day.

  • One company may apply for multiple teams.

    • We hope many teams will participate in order to become the number one company in Japan!


  • If you are unable to disclose your company name due to company regulations, please check the relevant question on the application form.

    • Please contact the public relations department and make a hard negotiation to have the company name disclosed.

    • Please note that if you are unable to disclose your company name, even if you win you will still be able to become the "Secret Japan No. 1", but you will not be eligible to become the "Announced Japan No. 1".

      • The "Ura Nihonichi" event will be remembered by participants as the true "Nipponichi"

      • The "publicly announced No. 1 in Japan" is the top No. 1 in Japan that is spread through social media, press releases, etc.

    • From next time onwards, taking into consideration the possibility of distributing tournament footage, we ask that each company research the "external use regulations for company names" and urge their companies to make their company names public as much as possible.


[Match Format]

  • This will be a doubles/pairs match (not a team match)

    • The winning pair in the Advanced Class* will be crowned "Number One Pickleball Company in Japan."

  • Any combination of men and women is acceptable

    • However, female players will be given a handicap of 2 points each.

      • 0 female players: First to score 15 points

      • 1 female player: 13 points first

      • 2 female players: 11 points first

  • Please declare your level as beginner/intermediate/advanced when applying.

    • Based on the results, the competition will be divided into two classes: Entry Class and Advanced Class.

    • Depending on the number of pairs at each level, the organizers will decide which class the intermediate level students will be placed in.

  • Qualifying Round

    • Brute Force Method

    • First to 15 points, no deuce (=win by one point system)

  • Final Round

    • Tournament format (4 teams)

      • There will be a third place match

    • First to 15 points, deuce allowed (= win by two points system)

  • The above may change depending on the number of participating companies and pairs.

    • After the application deadline, participants will be notified by email prior to the event.


[Awards]

  • Awards will be given in two categories: "public ranking" (public ranking) and "secret ranking".

  • Published ranking (ranking in table)

    • This ranking includes the number one ranking in Japan that is announced "externally" through SNS, press releases, etc.

      • It can be published on each company's or individual's social media sites, websites, etc.

    • Only companies that can disclose their company names are eligible for this ranking.

    • Medals will be given to the winners, runners-up and top three (both entry and advanced classes) on the spot and photographs will be taken.

      • However, please note that you will have to return the medals after the photo shoot. The medals will be given to the winners of the podium in the reverse order.


  • Hidden ranking (true ranking)

    • These are the "true rankings" based on the tournament results on the day and will not be published on social media, in press releases, etc.

    • The ranking is a combination of companies whose names cannot be disclosed and companies whose names can be disclosed, and is based on the true ability of the companies based on the results of the matches on the day.

    • The medals you take home will be determined based on this ranking.

  • The rankings will be decided separately for the Entry Class and Advanced Class.

    • The title of "Japan's No. 1" is only available to advanced class riders.

  • Six teams will also be awarded prizes in addition to medals! (Properties provided by PJF - The teams and rankings will be decided later.)

* The award recipients and award contents may change depending on the number of participants in each event.

  • Self-judging system *However, judges may be appointed for the finals etc.

【practice】

  • As it is an outdoor court, there will be some practice time after the opening ceremony.

  • If the tournament ends early, you can practice until 3:00 p.m.


[Participation Fee]

  • 13,000 yen per pair

    • Please note that this is per pair, not per person or company.

  • Payment can be made via Paypay (ID: moshsuzuki) or by personal bank transfer (Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Takadanobaba Branch, Regular Account 1205121, Masashi Suzuki)

    • Details will be provided on the application form.

  • Please note that receipts can be issued in the personal name of Masashi Suzuki, but invoices are not supported.

    • If you require a receipt, please check the relevant question on the application form and enter the company name to be printed on the receipt.

[Social gathering]

  • One of the aims of this tournament is for office-working pickleballers to become friends and exchange information, so after the tournament is over we'd like to go out for drinks with some volunteers!

    • On Sundays, some people will be eating dinner at home with their families, so we will keep the meals light and it is OK for you to go home earlier.

    • It would be great if companies could talk about things like, "What kind of pickleball-related business can we collaborate on?"

    • Drinks and food can be ordered a la carte up to the total amount.

  • Fees will be collected from each individual on-site via cash/Paypay

  • Please note that we cannot provide a receipt for this.


[Cancellation] If you cancel after the application deadline, you will be considered a cancellation, so please let us know.


[Major points to note]

  • Regarding handling of rainy weather, please follow the procedure below at KPI PARK : https://labola.jp/r/shop/3302/ (Please refer to the ☂ section on using the weather, etc.) Please note that according to the KPI PARK rules, cancellations will not be accepted unless there is 0.5mm or more of rainfall on-site 2 hours before the start of the day.

    • In accordance with the rules, the secretariat will notify participants (representatives) of the cancellation status by email after 8:30.

    • If cancellation is approved by KPI, the participation fee will be refunded.

  • This guideline may be subject to change depending on the number of participants, social conditions, and other unavoidable circumstances.

  • If you get injured and have to use crutches, Japanese companies generally don't look upon you with any favors and often make jokes like, "I wish you could put the energy you put into your hobbies into your work," so be careful not to get hurt.

  • The surface is an outdoor hard court. Please wear outdoor shoes.

  • There may be food trucks available on the day, but no meals will be served at the clubhouse, so please bring a packed lunch if necessary.


[Other notes]

  • First aid will be provided for injuries or accidents during the competition, but the organizers and venue will not bear any responsibility thereafter.

  • The organizers and venue will not be held responsible for any damages incurred by participants due to injuries, accidents, theft, etc.

  • This tournament does not include recreational insurance. Please take out the necessary sports insurance for each participant.

  • If damage is caused to the venue, other participants, or other third parties due to the participant's negligence, the participant will be liable to compensate for the full amount of such damage.

  • The right to post images, videos, articles, and records from the tournament on websites etc. belongs to the organizer.

  • The tournament will treat all players and companies fairly

【cancel】

  • After applying, you can cancel up until the application deadline by sending an email to the organizer (see below).

  • If you cancel after the deadline, 100% of the participation fee will be charged, regardless of the reason.
