Pickleball Japan Federation Code of Ethics

Chapter1: General Provisions


Article 1 (Purpose)
This Code aims to ensure that all individuals involved with the Pickleball Japan Federation (hereinafter referred to as “the Federation”) are aware of the high ethical standards and social responsibilities required in sports and act fairly and with integrity.


Article 2 (Scope of Application)
This Code applies to all individuals involved with the Federation, including its board members, staff, registered athletes, coaches, referees, staff of affiliated organizations, and others engaged with the Federation (hereinafter collectively referred to as “stakeholders”).


Chapter 2: Fundamental Ethical Principles


Article 3 (Respect for Human Rights)
Stakeholders shall respect the fundamental human rights of all individuals and must not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, age, nationality, religion, disability, sexual orientation, social status, or any other grounds.


Article 4 (Prohibition of Harassment)
Stakeholders must not engage in any form of harassment that undermines the dignity of others, including power harassment, sexual harassment, discriminatory speech or behavior, and bullying.
 

Article 5 (Fairness and Integrity)
Stakeholders must not engage in any fraudulent activities that compromise the fairness of sports, such as match-fixing, doping, biased officiating, or violence, and must always act with sincerity and integrity.


Article 6 (Protection of Minors)
Stakeholders must prioritize the healthy development of minors, ensure their safety and well-being, and provide appropriate care and consideration during instruction and training.


Article 7 (Exclusion of Anti-Social Forces)
Stakeholders shall have no association whatsoever with anti-social forces and must not engage in any acts of solicitation, provision of benefits, or financial support.

Chapter 3: Ethics in Athletic Activities


Article 8 (Respect for the Sport)
Stakeholders shall respect the spirit and rules of pickleball and treat opponents, referees, and spectators with courtesy.


Article 9 (Promotion of Fair Play)
All stakeholders shall promote fair play, value character development and mutual understanding through sport, and not be overly focused on winning at all costs.


Article 10 (Prohibition of Violence and Corporal Punishment)
All forms of physical or psychological abuse and corporal punishment in coaching are strictly prohibited. Any violations will be dealt with severely.


Chapter 4: Organizational Ethics


Article 11 (Ensuring Transparency)
The Federation shall ensure transparency in decision-making and accountability in its operations, and strive for fair governance.


Article 12 (Prevention of Conflicts of Interest)
Board members and stakeholders must not use their positions for personal gain or for the benefit of third parties.


Article 13 (Confidentiality Agreement)
To ensure the proper handling of personal and confidential information obtained in the course of duty, all individuals engaged in Federation activities (including directors, employees, volunteers, and contractors) are required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Under this agreement, individuals are prohibited from disclosing any confidential information obtained during their tenure, even after leaving the organization. The Federation reserves the right to take legal action in case of violations.

 

Chapter 5: Reporting and Disciplinary Action


Article 14 (Whistleblower System)
The Federation shall establish a contact point for reporting ethical violations and ensure that whistleblowers are protected from any disadvantages.


Article 15 (Investigation and Disciplinary Measures)
In the event of a violation of this Code, the Federation shall conduct a fact-finding investigation and, if necessary, impose disciplinary measures.
 

Chapter 6: Supplementary Provisions


Article 16 (Revision of the Code)
This Code may be reviewed and revised by resolution of the Board of Directors in response to changes in social conditions and the sports environment.


Article 17 (Effective Date)
This Code shall take effect from June 2023.
